The "October surprise" is an expression in presidential races, where more often than not is a big story right before people vote that could change the course of the race. I'm not sure if this New York Post exclusive on Hunter Biden's emails is that surprise that could torpedo Joe Biden's campaign (see CREEPY JOE BIDEN IS BACK. SOMETHING ABOUT LITTLE GIRLS DANCING... and WIFE OF BOSTON MARATHON HERO: JOE BIDEN INAPPROPRIATELY TOUCHED ME). But Biden's tactic of claiming that anything involving his son and Ukraine is "discredited" and that he's "never spoken to [Hunter] about his overseas business dealings" isn't going to fly. There are (alleged) emails.

"Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It's realty [sic] an honor and pleasure," the e-mail reads.

An earlier e-mail from May 2014 also shows Pozharskyi, reportedly Burisma's No. 3 exec, asking Hunter for "advice on how you could use your influence" on the company's behalf.

According to the Post, the emails were found on a laptop dropped off at a Delaware computer repair shop in April 2019. The owner couldn't verify that Hunter dropped off the computer, but there was a "Beau Biden Foundation" stick on it. Also, this:

A 12-minute video that appears to show Hunter, who's admitted struggling with addiction problems, smoking crack while engaged in a sex act with an unidentified woman.

Whether or not this is going to affect the race, who knows. You would have better luck throwing your money on the ground than to place a bet on anything related to Election 2020. It's not like Joe Biden's support has ever made sense, dating back to the Democrat primary. But Joe Biden has a televised, prime-time town hall this Thursday. If he isn't asked about this in the first question, I don't want to hear from anyone that the news media isn't playing sides.

My only regret is that this story broke today and not next Wednesday. I would have loved to have seen Donald Trump hit him on this at the last debate before Biden had a chance to think up an excuse.
