After the Freedom Convoy may have aided in bringing Canadian Prime Minister Justin "I Feel Pretty" Trudeau's reign of terror to a brief end, he has a taste for authoritarianism and tyranny, now, and he's decided he liked it and wants more. So, Canada's walking pile of soy and hair goop is banning handguns in Canada. It combines the two great tastes he thinks go perfect together, besides poutine and ass. I.F.P. Trudeau gets to mix ultra-radical leftist politics with virtue signaling. His new plan is a "response" to the Uvalde shooting.

Not a "ban," outright. But it will no "longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere in Canada.” Trudeau went on to say "In other words, we’re capping the market for handguns.”

But at least it sounds like if you already have a handgun, you can keep it. That may not be true with other firearms.

I.F.P. Trudeau will also require all of what he calls “military-style assault weapons” to be turned over via mandatory buyback. What is a “military-style assault weapon” you might ask? You know, since those are just a collection of words leftists came up with and not an actual weapon. That's where things get extra authoritarian. Since there is no legal definition, I.F.P. Trudeau said, “the government would seek to come up with one that could not be easily circumvented by gun makers.”

This is made possible by the fact that Canada doesn't have a God-given right to self-defense. Or free speech. Or pretty much anything the government doesn't let citizens have. And when that government can scrape together 50.1% of the vote, it can impose its will on the rest of the country. Rights be damned!

I expect I.F.P. Trudeau to be praised by the American press all day Tuesday.
