I may have spoken too soon. Earlier, when Ontario announced they were ending their vaccine mandate, I said it sounded like the Freedom Convoy had won. Instead, it was just announced Justin "I Feel Pretty" Trudeau is going to declare martial law to quell the peaceful protests.

Government-funded Canadian news outlet CBC reports that I.F.P Trudeau plans to invoke the Emergencies Act, which would allow him to take steps he normally wouldn't be allowed to in order to stop protesters from speaking out against his mandates. The Act allows Trudeau's cabinet to take, quote, "special temporary measures that may not be appropriate in normal times."

At the heart of the peaceful Freedom Convoy protest are citizens upset with their central government taking too many special "temporary" measures over the course of the pandemic. The fear is that Trudeau's government will never relinquish the additional control. Trudeau's response is to take more "temporary" measures. Let that percolate for a bit.

The emergency declaration goes into effect immediately. HOWEVER, Trudeau still needs to get approval within Seven days. If either the Commons or the Senate votes against the motion, the declaration is revoked.

Trudeau started by saying the protesters had "unacceptable" opinions. Actually, no. Trudeau started by saying he wasn't going to tolerate certain Canadian citizens who he said: "take up space." Then he attacked the Truckers. Then he hid for five days while claiming to have COVID. Then he refused to address the protesters' concerns. Then he blamed America. And now, martial law.

What's most disturbing is that the media--the institution whose job it is to hold the government accountable on behalf of the people--has made it clear that they side with the government against the people. I usually call Trudau a walking pile of soy and hair product. Today he is just a douchebag.

Say a prayer for the truckers. This could get bad quickly.
