Watch: Karine Jean-Pierre makes it clear White House refuses to talk about school safety, will only ban your guns
Today, a reporter asked Karine Jean-Pierre if she supports an upcoming bill to be proposed by Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn. The bill, dubbed the Safe School Act, would establish a $900 million grant program to allow public and private schools to train and hire veterans and former law enforcement officers to serve as school safety officers. It would also allow schools to hire off duty law enforcement officers and provide funding to increase physical security. So basically, it would solve school shootings. (Kidding. It wouldn't solve them entirely, of course. But it would certainly help.)
The reporter asked KJP if the White House has a stance on this bill, since it would, y'know, protect children. Which they claim to be all about. But instead of answering the question, KJP rambled about everything Biden has done to stop mass shootings thus far before getting to her main point: the only thing they'll support is taking the guns away. Specifically the "assault weapons," of course.
\u201cREPORTER: "The Safe School Act...does the administration have a stance on that?"\n\nJEAN-PIERRE: "We know what works, and that's why we've been calling...for an assault weapons ban."\u201d— Daily Caller (@Daily Caller) 1680203990
"We have done two dozen executive orders in the past two years - this President has - to do everything that he can to protect communities and our kids. And as we know, we can't do it alone [...] We need Congress to act. And the things that we know are very popular that will actually assist or help prevent gun violence is banning assault weapons [...] And this is something that Republicans won't move on."
I love how she says "we need Congress to act," in response to a question about a bill currently being proposed by U.S. Senators. Meaning, Congress is acting. Just not in the way they want.
If this really were about protecting the kids, Congress and the White House would have passed school safety legislation a looooong time ago. That would in no way prevent them from also trying to ban assault weapons. But it would take away a major selling point - the safety of American children. They're holding that safety hostage to push more gun control. It's hard to stomach, but there's no other explanation.
