Americans have been eagerly awaiting justice for Kate Steinle. Just two months ago, the legal system plopped down a meaty log of turd and called it "justice." Now it seems San Francisco is trying to redeem itself with a new verdict for the border skipping life snatcher.

Here's the scoop:

A Mexican man acquitted of murder in the shooting death of a San Francisco woman that sparked a national immigration debate was sentenced to time served for illegal gun possession Friday.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Samuel Feng also denied a defense request to give Jose Ines Garcia Zarate a new trial for his conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Garcia Zarate will now be taken into federal custody, but it’s not clear when he will be transferred.

Garcia Zarate faced a maximum sentence of three years behind bars but has been held in the San Francisco jail since his July 1, 2015, arrest.

Three years? Meh. There might be other technical workarounds possible to maximize the punishment for ole Jose (see DOJ Makes Major Move to Bring Kate Steinle's Killer to Justice). But the fact that such workarounds are even necessary proves the incompetence of the officials involved in the original not guilty verdict. Actually, the incompetence of California officials as a whole.

The San Francisco sheriff’s department has said it will turn over Garcia Zarate to U.S. authorities. A federal grand jury indicted him on two felony charges of illegal gun possession less than a week after the San Francisco jury acquitted him of murder.

San Francisco public defender Jeff Adachi on Friday criticized federal prosecutors for adding the charges, which he called “ridiculous” and politically motivated.

“This is rarely done” after a defendant is acquitted on the same charge in a state court, Adachi said.

Pay no mind to the silly words from the public defender. He maybe slammed one too many cervezas with his murderous muchacho before the trial. Our legal system isn't beholden to catering to trigger happy aliens. Illegal immigrants don't have American rights, those are something Americans are entitled to. Hence the "American" part. I'd suggest you ask Kate Steinle, but this ass-wipe killed her. You can see the problem, no?

Not sure what rights Mexico grants its citizens. But maybe our police should have pumped Jose full of lead for a packet of chiclets and 20 pesos instead. You know, to make him feel more at home.

This wimpish fail at "justice" is the kind of result we should expect from leftist policies. Nice going, California!
