Kathy Griffin Attacks Kevin Hart for Not Making Trump Jokes
We assumed Kathy Griffin would have just gone away (see Desperate Kathy Griffin Panders with Cliche Anti-Trump Jokes. Everyone Still Hates Her… and Kathy Griffin Playing the Victim!? She Now Says the Trump Family is Bullying Her…). Instead, she is trying to make a comeback by attacking other comedians. Like Kevin Hart. Seriously. You're gonna love this.
"I do feel like this is such an anxiety-ridden time for everyone that there is a thirst for all kinds of comedy," Griffin says. "And look, if you want to not hear about Trump at all, go see Kevin Hart. He doesn't even mention Trump. I personally think that's a (expletive) move because he's a black man. But I guess he's selling more tickets than I ever will."
You're probably having the same reaction I did.
Let me enter for the record the following. Kevin Hart is an African-American entertainer from California. Ten bucks says he doesn't like Donald Trump or Fox News. That's okay. Assuming celebrities vote for different people than I do is my default position. I only get annoyed when they're douchebags about it. Or when they come across as someone who hates the half of the country with a different opinion than they have. Hart does neither of those things. Griffin's entire schtick is being terrible. She really is criminally unfunny.
Not to mention the "it would have been racist if a conservative said it" tone of her comment. Because Hart has darker skin that Kathy Griffin does, Kathy thinks he owes it to his (black) people to validate her worldview. That's whitesplaining, no? Hart's just too busy being funny and entertaining to a wide audience to make it part of his act.
That's why he's selling more tickets than Kathy ever will.
