Keith Olbermann Rips Stephen Colbert as Gutless and Tedious, Which, While True, Is Still for Stupid Reasons
Every so often we get a little left-on-left action which is fun to watch. However, we still wouldn't mind seeing both parties victims of a giant asteroid falling from the sky. The gods of content provide us with such a moment with Keith Olbermann questioning the comedy stylings of Stephen Colbert. Yes, that Keith Olbermann. Yes, that Stephen Colbert.
At issue is CBS News hiring former Trump chief-of-staff Mick Mulvaney. I've gone out of my way to ignore the story. It's easier to skip to the end where Mulvaney is fired and the CEO is begging mid-level employees for forgiveness over their feelings getting hurt. Colbert expressed his dismay in the best way he knows how: unfunny jokes. Olbermann wanted him to stomp his feet, cause a scene, and threaten to quit.
Rather than reworking a series of his ancient tedious jokes, @StephenAtHome should have - still could - use his power at @cbs.
Give them a choice - keep him or @MickMulvaney. Even I did that at @msnbc with @ASavageNation. All it takes is a little guts.
Anything less is crap. https://t.co/fumysi35Z1

So, Colbert was all like: "Is Mick Mulvaney psychic? Get this man to Vegas! He’s Nostra-dumbass!”
In response, Olbermann was all like, "Your jokes are tedious. Hey, remember when I used to work for MSNBC?"
America looks at both of them and is all like...
I have to correct Olbermann, though. He's right that Stephen Colbert is gutless and tedious. Where he's wrong is that Colbert is employed by the Democratic Party. They only license Colbert to CBS. Colbert needs to keep his show so he can push White House talking points about buying luxury cars and assaulting Peter Doocy. Also, the singing needles are paid for by Big Pharma. Those are always a hit.
So, while KO has a point in the micro, he's all off in the macro. Also, and perhaps more importantly, they both suck.
