'Fraiser' actor Kelsey Grammer was about to talk about supporting Donald Trump, but then his PR rep got in the way
Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas Movie! Dare your friends to change your mind with our new Christmas long sleeve!
Kelsey Grammer is one of the few Republican actors I've known for being Republican as long as I have. Him, Arnold Schwartzenegger, and Tom Seleck. For Grammer, that means both George Bushes, John McCain and Mitt Romney, and Donald Trump. The latter is the one the PR team from Paramount+ freaked out about during an interview.
The actor was promoting the Fraiser reboot with BBC Radio 4's Justin Webb. Grammer had said one of his influences for the reboot was when Roseanne Barr brought back her show... before being fired for being a Trump supporter. I'm detecting a pattern.
Since Grammer brought up Roseanne, Webb used the opportunity to ask the actor if he still supported Donald Trump. Kelsey does, and was going to leave it like that. The Paramount+ PR flack cut the interview short at that point, no doubt to prevent Grammer from saying nice things about the former president. However, in doing so, it drew more attention to the actor having nice things to say about the former president. The PR flack doesn't know how PR works.
Webb said of the incident:
“I have to say, actually, Kelsey Grammer himself was perfectly happy to go on talking about it. The Paramount+ PR people, less happy that he talked about it at some length so we…They decided we’d had plenty of time for our interview."
I'm curious if anyone has watched the Frasier reboot. As resident oldhead here at the Louder with Crowder Global HQ, I was a fan of the original show and, of course, Cheers. My problem with reboots is that a lot of them are misses more than hits. The shows wind up being lazy parodies of classics.
However, NBC surprised me with the reboot of another 80s sitcom classic, Night Court. It manages to be AS funny as the original was. Maybe Fraiser will be as well.
Have you seen it? Is it worth subscribing to Paramount+ and canceling before the month is up? Let me know.
