Watch: Progressive Philadelphia DA Reassures 'Fundamentally Law-Abiding' Looters He'll Go Easy On Them
Far-left Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said that suspected looters will be prosecuted differently than "criminals” because they are "fundamentally law-abiding people."
This is funny because the whole reason he is even talking about these people is because they broke the law.
I really was not aware that law-abiding individuals were looting stores.
I guess it is now okay to occasionally break the law as long as most of the time you abide by it.
What about someone you committed a murder? If that was their first offense ever, would they also be “fundamentally” law-abiding citizens?
Guess they must be a bunch of honest thieves.
He said, "We’re going to prosecute people in an even-handed way. We’re not going to let any judge – who thinks there is a caste system, and some people get better treatment than others – we’re not going to let any judge disturb the peace of this city."
I am sorry, but did he just say that he is going to be the judge and the jury? Maybe he needs to go back to law school, but the judicial system prosecutes from charges to convictions based on the separations of different entities. It is not at the hands of one man.
The First Amendment gives people the right to peaceful assembly. They cannot disturb the peace. The looters did not utilize their First Amendment rights and disturbed the peace, among other degenerate and illegal things.
But this DA really just said a judge that prosecutes based on the law is the one DISRUPTING THE PEACE.
The peace was already disrupted by this woke DA and now he will essentially not prosecute the looters, which subsequently gives them a pass to get away with it AGAIN.
Krasner continued, "We’ll look carefully to see whether this is a one-off situation and they’re fundamentally law-abiding people, hold them accountable one way; or whether they are criminals, and they’re all about taking advantage of some sort of unrest for their own benefit, and they will be prosecuted another way."
And is selective application of the law and punishment even constitutional? Because I have a feeling it is not.
Do you think he has heard of the term “equal protection under the law?”
And what does he need to even investigate? We already know they are not “fundamentally law-abiding” people.
Since the DA is so dumb, he probably does not know what an oxymoron is.
But here is another phrase that fits this situation perfectly: As George Orwell said, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
Except, people who commit crimes don’t typically just stop after their first thrill. Seventy percent of prisoners released in 2012 were arrested again within five years, according to data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics.
Prisoners who committed property crimes had the highest rates of recidivism, with 78% of prisoners arrested again after five years.
According to Fox News, GOP state Rep. Martina White previously noted that residents are "living in fear" due to the crime that has risen under Krasner. And that there were 562 homicides in Philadelphia in 2021 compared to 315 in 2017, before Krasner took office.
Looters late last month hit stores throughout Philadelphia, which "stretched the resources of the Philadelphia Police Department," according to Fox News.
But this DA just literally told the world that as long as you have never committed a crime, you are perfectly allowed to come to the City of Brotherly Love to have your first go.
