NBA Star Kyrie Irving Blasts Media Slandering His Name Over Vax Status: 'I'm Standing for Freedom'
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving was finally allowed to play a home game. He was prevented from doing so this season because of his vaccination status. Irving didn't get one. He was one of only a handful of NBA stars who didn't, and he was attacked in the media for it. NYC Mayor Eric Adams lifted the restriction on celebrities, allowing celebrities--and only celebrities--exemption from showing their vax status. Irving could play. But don't think he forgot.

Irving said the point of this season was to make sure he was standing for what he believed in, and freedom: "I don't think [freedom is] a word that gets defined enough in our society. About the freedom to make choices [...] whether that caries over into [...] politician control, government controls [...] I'm standing for freedom. That's in all facets of my life. [...] And if I get tarnished and people try to slander my name continuously, those are things I won't forget."
Pssst... He's talking about you, liberal media. Irving was one of only a handful of NBA stars who didn't get their arm jab, and they were smeared and shamed in the media repeatedly because of it.
Irving's story took a turn for the absurd over the past few weeks. Because of NYC's latest restrictions, you no longer need to show proof of vax to attend events but do need to show it in order to go to work. Irving could attend a Nets game and walk down to the floor to greet his teammates. He just couldn't play with them. No, it doesn't make any scientific sense. It makes even less sense that he was free to play in Florida, where he scored sixty points in one game.
The media embarrassment is why NYC changed rules so celebrities didn't need to show vax status. But the workplace mandate is still in place indefinitely. Again, because SCIENCE!
