Watch: Career felon doesn't like being denied bail, so he does the Superfly splash attacking the judge
I was expecting to wake up to Wrestle Kingdom clips this morning (shout out Nic Nemeth), yet the most exciting one came out of of a Las Vegas courtroom. Career felon didn't like what he heard from the judge. So he super-super-superflied her ass. Something tells me he'll now not like what the next judge says a lot worse.
30-year-old Deobra Redden already had three prior felonies. He was being sentence for a fourth, aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm. He wanted probation. Judge Mary Kay Holthus says, "LOL, what do you think this is... New York City or Los Angeles? Probation denied."
If Redden ever gets out of prison, he might be fielding offers from the NFL and WWE. This was quite an impressive leap.
This guy sitting next to the judge agrees.
The court issued a statement shortly after: “We commend the heroic acts of her (Judge Holthus) staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant. The court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. We are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public, and our employees.”
Judge Holthus suffered minor injuries. The marshal in the courtroom suffered more serious injuries and was transferred to a nearby hospital. He suffered a bleeding gash on his forehead and a dislocated shoulder.
Redden was arrested and jailed, and now faces a whole bunch of shiny, new felony charges, including battery on a protected person. Redden's attorney had nothing to say when asked by the Associated Press.
The Internet, on the contrary, had plenty to say.
This one is my personal favorite.
It's unfortunate for Deobra Redden, now with at least five felonies to his name, that this happened in Las Vegas and not in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, or San Francisco. The DA in those cities would have him back out on the streets on the grounds of equity and the judge's whiteness.
