Leftists Say "Nobody's Coming For Your Guns!" Yes They Are...
Whenever leftists say those of use who support the Second Amendment are crazy for thinking they want to take our guns, we know they want to take our guns. And no, it's not just a gut feeling we have -- that's our concealed carry pistol.
As a general rule, when journalists write articles saying, "No one is coming for your guns," and said articles are laced with condescension for guns, the people who own them, and the people who defend them, we know they're coming for our guns.
The latest opinion piece comes from from a writer named Clete Wetli:
Let's be clear- no one's coming for your guns. The NRA has become ridiculous when it comes to their extremist defense of the Second Amendment by claiming somehow that the right to bear arms is unique among all rights in that it should be considered absolute in all situations. This unrealistic position has caused the lobbying group to oppose any sensible type of gun regulation before they even hear the proposal.
Notice that? First he says "No one is coming for your guns." Then immediately blasts the NRA for insisting the right to bear arms "should be considered absolute."
Actually, yes, the Second Amendment is absolute. That's why it's a right. They tend not to have seasons or times when they're more or less appropriate. Similar for the First Amendment, which was used in the writing of Clete's crap pile. Before you give me the "shouting fire in a crowded theatre" argument as a limit to free speech, don't. Stop it. Fortunately we've already taken the time to embarrass one of Clete's fellow anti-gun knuckle-draggers, Cenk over at Young Turks. Behold, video:
You're welcome. Also, I time-stamped that segment to the FIRE part. But the entire video is gold. Hits all the ways leftists have it wrong on guns.
Here's another reason we know leftists are after our guns. In the recent Supreme Court case DC vs. Heller, dissenting Justice Stevens wrote this:
The Second Amendment was adopted to protect the right of the people to maintain a well regulated militia. It was a response to the concern that the power of Congress to disarm the state militias and create a national standing army posed an intolerable threat to state sovereignty.
That means, according to Stevens, if there is no militia, there's no need for the people to keep and bear arms. In other words, if Stevens had his way? A total gun confiscation. Which Obama and Hillary are major fans of. Read Obama PRAISES Australia's Gun Ban. The Actual Results...
Leftists want our guns. They've already said as much. Hillary Clinton has openly said the Supreme Court ruling got it wrong about guns. She will also appoint a gun-control loon to the Supreme Court if she wins the presidency. Based on what Stevens said in his dissent, how can a total gun confiscation NOT happen?
By the way? Gun grabbing is already happening.
- Leftist states like Connecticut: Guns May be Seized From ACCUSED Domestic Abusers... Regardless of Proof. That's a gun confiscation.
- In New York the District Attorney Banned Prosecutors from having Guns.
- California Can Now Officially Confiscate Your Guns, Even if No Law was Broken... So much for due process.
The formal confiscation would begin with a registry of guns. Which, by the way? Leftist dream. Hawaii is possibly taking the first step toward a gun registry. That way leftists know where the guns are and who has them. For the sole purpose of one day confiscating them. Historical side note: A gun registry is exactly what Hitler did before confiscating the guns from German citizens.
Which means to anyone who says "We don't want to take your guns?"
So yes, the extreme, leftist Democrats are coming for your guns. Actions speak louder than words. Leftists like the writer cited above can promise all day long "We're not after your guns," but their actions paint a much different picture. A picture of a world without guns.
