In the old days, California boasted mines brimming with lumps of gold. Now the state is awash with liberal crap nuggets. Hence the people fleeing California with the urgency of an ill-prepared anus in search of a toilet post-Taco Bell. News of Californian stupidity has spread far and wide (see California Proposes Bill Punishing Waitstaff for Giving Customers Plastic Straws), but turns out there's more to the state than open borders and tranny parades. Not all of its residents have lost their overly taxed minds.

Escondido, a city mostly known for being a tourist pitstop on the way to downtown San Diego, is fighting back against California's sanctuary state law:

Residents in Escondido, California voiced their opinions at a heated meeting Wednesday night before the city's council voted to file a legal brief supporting the Trump administration's lawsuit against the state's sanctuary law.

Escondido joined four other cities that have taken action in fighting back against the law that protects illegal immigrants from federal ICE officials.

Here are a few highlights. From a legal immigrant donning a MAGA hat:

I came to this country 45 years ago with my mother, okay? 45 years ago we were not offered sanctuary. We were not offered an easier, softer way, okay? We were told "you have to be an American citizen, and here's what you have to do." And we did it.

The Escondido mayor also came out in full support of the brief. Open borders and sanctuary state status? How about EscondidNO.

This is the right thing to do. I was elected mayor to uphold the Constitution and to keep our community safe. I am committed to do that. That's what the council did today.

This city council was Nancy Pelosi's worst nightmare: brown people disagreeing with her. California is currently shaking in its Mexican pointy boots. No es bueno.

Let this be a lesson to Democrats. Not all immigrants want to be the left's mascots. Not all minorities want what the left wants. Shocking, I know. Methinks Democrats weren't expecting immigrants to have functioning brains tucked away under those sombreros. Sneaky bastardos.

Conservatives tend to write off California as if it's chock full of liberals dwindling into mariachi madness. Not so. California clearly still has some sanity floating among all the stupid (see ENOUGH! Rural California Has a New Solution to Escape Democrats).

I, for one, am hoping we see more west coast citizens undermining the leftist narrative this year. My 2018 resolution was to see Chuck Schumer stress-wrinkle himself into a human raisin.
