Lesbian Batgirl Actress Gets Cyber Bullied Off the Internet...By SJWs
The Ministry of Wokeness which makes casting decisions at the CW thought they had a winner. They were introducing Batgirl to the Arrowverse. The reimagined Jewish Lesbian version. To prevent a Scarlett Johanssen thing from happening, CW was only looking at openly lesbian actresses for the role. A lesbian actress playing a lesbian superhero! The other woke producers were going to carry the casting department out on their shoulders in celebration.
So Ruby Rose was cast. Who then deleted her Twitter after the inevitable backlash. No, not from Trump supporters. From leftist SJWs who feel the casting decision still wasn't pandering enough.
While Rose’s casting was celebrated by many, the news was also met with a fair amount of backlash. For some fans, the decision to cast a non-Jewish actress was problematic, while others felt The CW could have easily decided to give a lesser-known LGBTQ actress a chance to star in the role.Additional complaints ranged from The Meg star’s acting not being up to par, The CW not looking for another out actress to tackle the role, and a segment of fans believing Rose hadn’t publicly identified as lesbian, therefore making her a poor choice for the role of Batwoman.
Here I thought the dumbest controversy from the CW's Arrowverse was going to be The Flash's Grant Astin complaining about being body-shamed. Seriously, sack up dude. I say this as someone who both fat shames himself AND thinks The Flash is the best show on television.
But back to Rose. Which I want to be clear, I don't have a problem with the casting or the creative direction. Much like the new female Doctor Who, it could be good. Plus while Marvel > DC, at least from a television show standpoint, The CW has a great track record when it comes to crossovers.
However, the silly outrage over everything should be a wake-up call to filmmakers about allowing hecklers on social media to make decisions. No matter how much you try to pander to the Woke Police, people will always find something to complain about. Because those people know how easy it is to get Hollywood producers to cower, even scrap entire movies, if their leftist credentials are called in to question.
It should be a wake-up call. But it won't be.
