"60 Minutes" old crone challenges freed Israeli hostage, that maybe Hamas had a good excuse for starving him
In the history of numbskullery in the journalisming history, batty Leslie Stahl from 60 Minutes asked quite possibly the dumbest question I've ever heard. It was so offensively bad I'm almost speechless, which I recognize is an odd way to start a blog post containing words and opinions. In an interview with a freed Israeli hostage, she asked him if maaaaaaybe Hamas could have had an understandable reason for starving him.
Quick recap: On October 7th, 2023, Israel was the victim of a heinous terrorist attack at the hands of Hamas. On October 8th, 2023, progressives in progressive cities throughout America started rallying that the Jews were asking for it (I'm paraphrasing). Jewish-American students were terrorized, attacked, and prevented from entering college buildings. The media simped for Palestine, which makes you wonder who really "runs the media."
Two of the people captured on October 7th were Keith Seigel and his wife Aviva. Aviva was realised the following month. Keith remained in captivity for over a year. He shared the harrowing experience with Stahl, where the following exchange took place.
Siegel: The terrorists became very mean, and very cruel, and violent. ... they were beating me and starving me.
Stahl: Do you think they starved you or they just didn't have food?
Pause.
Continue.
Keith Siegel: No, I think they starved me and they-- they would often eat in front of me and not--offer me food.
Lesley Stahl looked a Jewish hostage in the face—after being starved, tortured, beaten, and dragged through hell—and asked if maybe Hamas didn’t mean to starve him.
Maybe they just didn’t have food.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Shame on 60 Minutes. Shame on CBS. And shame on… pic.twitter.com/W6C5MBLIPO

Scott Jennings put it best. It's time for the old broad to retire.
"Old broad" is my word. Jennings is a Southern gentleman who went more the "bless her heart" route.
Asked last night for an everyday item that’s overdue for an upgrade. Easy: Leslie Stahl at 60 Minutes. Been there since 1991 & jumped the shark with her starvation question to hostage Keith Siegel. An upgrade is long overdue. Woof. pic.twitter.com/ajz3pLjbpO

You almost -- almost -- want to give her the benefit of the doubt that she just released some noxious brain flatulence. Anyone who has ever done a podcast or has talked for an extended period of time has those moments where words fall out of your mouth and you aren't sure how they got there.
Then you remember most of Stahl's progressive jorunalisming colleagues would ask the same the question.
