Liberals Attack Carly Fiorina Over Her... Breast Cancer?
Using Cancer for politics? Sounds swell...
The knives are out for Carly Fiorina now that she poses a risk to the left's narrative. That's not shocking. What is sort of shocking is what they're attacking her for now. Her... cancer?
Yes, really. Fake feminists pro-woman liberals want one of the two women running for President to shut up about breast cancer. Never mind the fact that none of us remember Fiorina talking about cancer recently. That doesn't matter. She doesn't have a right to discuss having breast cancer because she opposes Obamacare.
"If she were an average person who lost that AT&T coverage and had to replace it in an individual market where the insurers could sell it to her on their own terms, subject to the rules of the most lenient and consumer-unfriendly states ... as a cancer survivor, she'd be uninsurable."
Here's the rub though: Leftist OpEd writers can (and do) make up any claim they want about how Obamacare helps people with cancer. But according to these leftists, anyone who says anything to contradict Obamacare "facts" is a lying liar who lies. The wrinkle here is that Carly Fiorina can provide a first hand account Obamacare actually makes heath care more difficult.
From her book "Rising to the Challenge..."
Many long days and multiple scans, MRIs and mammograms later, we finally had a more definitive diagnosis: it was breast cancer, stage II. It hadn’t been detected in the mammogram I had had weeks earlier, because the tumor in my left breast was very small. At the same time, the cancer was very aggressive and had spread to lymph nodes that are not captured in a mammogram. It was, without a doubt, a very close call. Later, after Obamacare was passed, the Health and Human Services Administration changed the protocol for breast cancer screening. They recommended that women get a mammogram every other year and that they not do self-examinations. The Obama administration had concluded that this change in protocol would minimize false alarms and cost. I remember being insulted when HHS justified these changes by saying the old protocol caused too much trauma and concern. Women are tough. We can handle it. I remember thinking that if I had followed this protocol, I would probably be dead.
Contrary to what leftists would have you believe, Carly Fiorina's experience with Obamacare is a common one for people fighting cancer, even the patients who don't have as much money as Fiorina. All-intrusive government tends to result in lower quality care. Across the board. Just like where I was raised in Canada.
On a personal note, my aunt back in Canada is going through terminal lung cancer right now. Our only wish was that she could have received treatment here in the United States. If you don't believe me, watch the video below. There are some moments in here that will make your blood run cold. Only it's what Canadians deal with every day.
Maybe instead of Fiorina shutting up about her cancer, the left should stop lying about the law that made cancer harder to detect and fight.
Or how about at least supporting her for the strong woman she is. I know she hasn't met the pre-requisite of running a marathon without a tampon, but rules are meant to be bent... right?
