Library offers amnesty for library late fees... providing you pay them back in cat pictures

There is inflation and then there is hyperinflation. We have yet to see the latter, but that does not mean people are not greatly affected by the fact that their purchasing power only keeps decreasing.
Librarians tend to have a love for reading - obviously. And when you love something you often want other people to join in on the fun. This is why a Machessutes library has decided that rather than pay late fees, members can avoid these fines in exchange for cat pictures.
We shall call this “Only Paws.”
And before you haters out there say that this is discriminatory because you have a dog - the picture can be of any cat. You can draw one, pull one off Google, or tell a librarian a story about a cat.
A library there will scratch certain fees off a book borrower’s record in exchange for a picture of the person's cat — or any cat, for that matter.
The goal is to encourage people to read and visit the library, even if they owe money for a lost or damaged book.
"People are struggling and sometimes choosing between paying for that book that, literally, your dog ate for $30 or buying $30 worth of groceries — those are two very different things," Jason Homer, executive director of the Worcester Public Library, told Fox News Digital.
"And, people do have priorities. So we want to come to them with kindness, with forgiveness and say, ‘Just be part of our community.’"
It’s called the "Feline Fee Forgiveness" program — all part of the library’s month-long "March Meowness" event.
It aims to reduce barriers to returning to the library, regardless of a person's circumstances.
The executive director said that fines don’t tend to bring people in nor does it do anything for the library as it ends up being a “sitting debt.” So there is even more evidence to prove that this is a great idea.
"We have a baseball stadium next door and we often joke that we have the two most American things — a public library and baseball — right next door to each other. And so that's, for us, something that's equally important."
The library has events scheduled during "March Meowness," including crafts and cat toy-making, story times, lectures, a movie screening of "Cats" and even a de-stress cat petting session.
And for all you cat haters out there who are going to claim this is racist - you can stop crying now because the library will also accept "honorary’ cats, dogs, raccoons, orcas or capybaras.”
I also noticed that there are many people out there who are trying to make this about politics and are getting mad over something that is a nonissue. My advice to you is - don’t be like that. Don’t make this about politics. Can you just be happy this is not some deranged drag story hour?
That said, I don’t know about you, but I will be sending them an “honorary” cat photo to cover the cost of someone else's debt.
