"Lawful, but awful": X (Twitter) CEO Linda Yaccarino validates all our free speech concerns about her
When Elon Musk named Linda Yaccarino as the CEO of X (then Twitter), conservatives had a number of free speech-related concerns. She was the "Chairman of the WEF's Taskforce on Future of Work and sits on the WEF's Media, Entertainment and Culture Industry Governors Steering Committee." Also, in an interview with Elon BEFORE he gave her the job, she came out in full support of MOAR content moderation.
Elon said to give her a chance. After hearing her talk to CNBC today about the new content tools that have never before existed in the history of the Internet... nope.
"If you are going to post something that is lawful but it’s awful, you get labeled. You get deamplified, which means it cannot be shared. ... [Brands] are protected from the risk of being next to that content. And it’s also why it’s really important to note that once a post is labeled and it can’t be shared and the user sees that, 30% of the time they take it down themselves."
I think we figured out who tried to throttle the Matt Walsh documentary "What is a Woman?" After the company struck a deal with Twitter to promote it.
Being involved with the WEF should have been a red flag alone. WEF members are full of elitists who don't hide their disdain for free speech. Something Elon claims -- or claimed -- is -- or was -- the most important thing in the world, and what Twitter is supposed to be -- SUPPOSED to be -- about. Now his CEO says they are going to decide what is "awful" even if it's "lawful" and throttle that.
What does X consider "awful?" Saying that it's wrong for biological boys to steal athletic opportunities from our daughters? Wondering if maybe there isn't enough oversight of the money we give to Ukraine? Questioning what we're being told by whatever pharmaceutical company is a featured BRAND on X that week? Sharing an article that implies our elections may not be as secure as the media tells us they are?
I'll bet you a case of Bud Light the people deciding are going to be the same people who decided the last time.
