Woke DA Won’t Prosecute Recorded Assault As Attempted Rape Because, Quote, “That’s Not What He Said He Wanted To Do”
If you live in a city with a progressive prosecutor, you may have noticed that it appears victims’ rights are being ignored while rampant crimes go up. In Los Angeles, George Gascón was almost recalled because his policies did just that.
Progressive policies embolden criminals and abandon victims. Subsequently, it’s innocent people like you who must pay the price.
A woman has expressed her shock after she heard her alleged attacker won’t face felony charges even though footage showed she was almost sexually assaulted in broad daylight.
The 30-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted the poor woman along a downtown Long Beach sidewalk last Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred outside of a Village Market restaurant. Security camera footage showed the unsuspecting woman casually walking when a “black homeless man”, Miguel Avila, emerged from the ground and began to stalk her.
This is when good samaritan Dan McIntyre began to sense something bad was about to happen. He was sitting around the corner when he saw the suspect "salivating" just watching the woman before he pursued her.
"His tongue was just going in and out and he was just focused on who was right ahead of him," said McIntyre. "He looked demon-possessed. If I've ever seen a demon-possessed, that's it."
Avila trailed behind the victim while also unzipping his pants, security footage showed. MacIntyre knew something was not right when he noticed the suspect pick up speed.
Within just a few seconds, Avila pulls up the victim's dress and throws her to the ground. That’s when McIntyre saved the day and jumped out of his seat and pepper sprayed the possessed suspect.
“I feel him right here on my neck. He grabs my hips and thrusts himself into me. I couldn't break away so turned really quick and then he pushed him to the ground,” said the victim, Rebekah Pedersen.
In an interview, Pedersen told ABC Los Angeles that District Attorney George Gascon's office is refusing to charge the suspect with felony attempted rape because the attacker “didn't say that's what he was going to do.”
You know, because to be prosecuted for a crime you must first admit guilt. That’s definitely how these things have always worked.
“Clearly it means the DA doesn't have a daughter, first of all, or have any care for women's protection and safety whatsoever because you literally have the video of him doing this,” Pedersen said.
The suspect was arrested and charged with sexual battery.
“I’m just lucky that it happened in daylight and not at night because then I probably would have been raped,” she added.
Pedersen told ABC that she plans to get a gun license and a Taser to be able to protect herself in the future.
“I want that guy in jail so that he doesn't go and actually rape somebody,” she said.
This is exactly why gun rights are women's rights.
Only the left can take something so normal like law and order and turn it into a partisan issue. Progressive DAs distort the job they are elected for and subsequently make communities less safe.
But it is highly likely that Gason will be elected again. Progressive voters tend to suffer from Stockholm syndrome and are easily fooled by progressive platitudes like “end mass incarceration.”
Sadly, we can only expect more of the same for Los Angeles.
