There are four basic rules:

• Note the status of your firearm. Treat every weapon as if it were loaded (Jeff Cooper).
• Never point your weapon at something that you do not intend to kill/destroy.
• Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you’re ready to fire.
• Be certain of your target and what’s behind it.
