It feels weird talking about anything pre-Sunday afternoon. The last week has been the longest year in politics I've ever seen. But in case you missed it, prior to Joe Biden finally getting meangirled out of the presidential race, we were seeing salutes to Donald Trump's badassery in surprising places.

To recap for those of you who may have been in a coma for the past eight days, there was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life. Instead of everyone running in terror and causing more chaos, supporters chanted "USA!" as Trump, with blood dripping from his shot ear, held his fist in the air, yelling, "Fight!"

A scene that was praised by (checks notes) wait... Mark Zuckerberg?

"Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I've seen in my life. As an American, it's hard not to get emotional about that spirit and that fight."

The ironic thing is that if Zuck posted this on Facebook, he'd get "fact" checked by an "independent" "fact" checker because Trump didn't get shot in the face. He got shot in the ear. His point still stands, though, and that is as much as an endorsement you'll get for Trump with Zuckerberg still being allowed to have friends in Palo Alto. In some cases, a non-endorsement of Democrats is a defacto pro-Trump endorsement.

The "spirit and fight" was on display at MLB games over the weekend, courtesy of Tampa Bay's Taylor Walls.

I don't know where the presidential race goes from here. We went from two old men to an old man vs. a woman who managed to be less popular than Joe Biden, owns each and every one of his disastrous policies, and who would NEVER have won a Democrat primary on her own.

The election resets starting today.

HOWEVER, that iconic image of Trump surviving an assassination attempt is going to last for a while. You're going to see more and more Americans emulate it as a sign of victory.
