This may or may not contain spoilers from the Disney+ show WandaVision. If you haven't seen it yet, that's on you. Originally, the show was perceived to set up the next Doctor Strange movies, where Strange teams up with the Scarlet Witch (the Wanda in WandaVision). Marvel only makes content to set up other content, so there was some logic there. And apparently, there was discussion to have Benidine Crumplesnatch reprise his role as Strange. But Marvel chief Kevin Feige said nuts to that. The doctor was too white and too male.

Some people might say, 'Oh, it would've been so cool to see Doctor Strange.' But it would have taken away from Wanda. We didn't want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie -- here's the white guy, 'Let me show you how power works.'

Marvel had even finalized a deal with Benedict Cumberbatch to appear in the season's final episode.

If you think anyone associated with any Disney+ show chirping about strong female characters rings hollow, you are not alone with that.

Brief synopsis of WandaVision: Wanda, aka the Scarlet Witch, had a nervous breakdown after seeing her deceased android husband disassembled. So she used her powers to take over a town in New Jersey, recreating reality to bring back her husband. Because Wanda used sitcoms as her escape from trauma, the "reality" was based on the style of sitcoms from the past eight decades. It looked great. The writing was great. Elizabeth Olson was incredible in it. More importantly, no one ended the show clamoring for a Dr. Strange cameo. John Krasinski as Reed Richards, maybe. But not Strange. So what was the point of Feige virtue-signaling about the show two months after the fact?

I mean, I know the point. Feige is a leftist douche, and signaling your virtue for social justicey reasons in comics is the newest archetype in Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces." It's in the updated 2021 Everything is Problematic Edition. Kevin Feige wanted everyone to know what an ally he is. "Hey ladies, look what I did. I got a white guy cut out of the movie so that the girl looked better. Who wants to touch me?"

Here's the bitter irony, because we know how the Clickbait Media Complex works. Because most of the people who write the blogs also like to signal their virtue while huffing on feminine hygiene products, this is going to be the story today. Everyone is going to be YASSSSS KWEENing over the white guy getting cut out of the movie. And how other white males are "outraged" over it. Even though we're mostly rolling our eyes at how desperate Feige is to get into feminist panties.

Everyone is going to be talking about Kevin Feige and Humperdink Schmecklecrack. You know who they won't be talking about? Wanda Maximoff and Elizabeth Olsen.
