Democrats have gone all in as the party of illegal immigrants (see San Franciscans Love Illegal Immigration and Morons Who Don’t Understand ‘LEGAL’ vs ‘ILLEGAL’ Immigration Stage #ADayWithoutImmigrants Protest). You know who has an issue with that? Legal immigrants - many of whom are Democrats - who came here legally. It bears repeating because many a leftist twit conflates illegal immigrants with legal immigrants. But as this story shows, 'tis not so.

The New York Times is shocked and appalled that folks with different racial backgrounds, hailing from different countries, aren't rubber-stamping the idea of "All people welcome here with nary a process." This erroneous liberal thought process is likely due to an expectation that all brown people believe whatever a Democrat tells them. Which, dare I say it, is a teensy bit racist. But hey, I'm not here to insinuate.

In passionate testimony before county legislators, and in tense debates with liberal neighbors born in the United States, legal immigrants argued that offering sanctuary to people who came to the country illegally devalued their own past struggles to gain citizenship.

Well, shiver me timbers, matey. Sounds like common sense. Much like waiting in line at a feminist film festival only two have two sea cows cut you off for the exit. "How dare you prevent me from fleeing as if the building were overrun with African Killer Bees. May your mother be cursed with clarity and see the mass of you for who you really are. A puffy skin blimp of rage!"

If you've been waiting in line patiently, if you've followed the rules, why on God's Green All Organic Earth would you applaud the law-breaking dinguses who didn't?

Some even felt it threatened their hard-won hold on the American dream.

Their objections stunned Democratic supporters of sanctuary here and helped bring about the bill’s demise in March. A similar proposal for the state collapsed this month in the Maryland Senate, where Democrats also hold a two-to-one advantage. Some of the same immigrants spoke out against it.

Right. Again, people who follow the law tend to frown upon those who do not. How is this hard?

The failure of the sanctuary bills in Maryland reveals a potentially troublesome fissure for Democrats as they rush to defy Mr. Trump. Their party has staked out an activist position built around protecting undocumented immigrants. But it is one that has alienated many who might have been expected to support it.

Imagine that. People who immigrated to the country the right way have a problem with the party who wants to roll out the red carpet for those who didn't.

Is there an echo in here? Feels like I've made this point a plethora of times before. Alas, repetition for the moronic is often required. Democrats and the New York Times (I made the distinction for legal reasons, but they're basically a human centipede) is a perfect example why people (like us) call leftists "out of touch." Legal Americans, whether born here or from another country, respect the law and respect other people who respect the law. None of this is rocket science, brain surgery, or even the ever-confusing contortions of gender studies. It's basic common sense. Coloring yourself "shocked" that the law-abiding do not like the law-breaking doesn't make you woke. It doesn't make you "compassionate." But it does make you an idiot. Your brain filled with lofty dreams. Or maybe just packing peanuts.
