Massachusetts Governor Demands Ban On Buying Single-Use Plastic Bottles
Rather than focus on the state's drug crisis, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey has decided to really prioritize her time and fight the invisible enemy instead, as she has announced her latest battle in the left-wings war on plastic.
Healey announced at The Clinton Global Initiative on Monday that she will be banning state agencies from purchasing single-use plastic bottles in an effort to save the world from climate change.
"We know that plastic waste, plastic production are among the leading threats to our oceans, our climate and environmental justice. In government, we have an obligation -- we also have an opportunity -- to not only stop contributing to this damage, but to chart a better path forward," Healey said. "In our coastal state, we know climate change is our biggest threat. We also believe that taking action is our greatest opportunity, an opportunity to secure a safe, prosperous and sustainable future."
Remember when leftists said that if we don’t stop using plastic straws then humanity will cease to exist? Well, that didn’t work out as well as they thought and as they are actually WORSE for the environment and our health.
Something tells me they didn’t think this one through either.
Healey claims plastic is “one of the biggest threats to our oceans.” But I don’t understand how a ban on plastic bottles will do anything to stop plastic pollution in the oceans since the state already has laws against littering. So how would more regulations prevent littering in the ocean?
Globally, only about three percent of plastic waste enters the ocean. And that is GLOBAL PLASTIC WASTE. It is safe to assume that Massachusetts is hardly a contributor to that, especially when you just look at plastic water bottles.
What is the point of all this besides virtue signaling and lecturing everyone?
Last month, Healey declared a state of emergencyafter an influx of migrants took over the state.
If she really wants to fight plastic pollution, she should be fighting illegal immigration instead.
It is estimated that each illegal alien leaves behind at least six to eight pounds of trash on the U.S. side of the border.
To my knowledge, no one in Massachusetts has died from plastic water bottles in the ocean. But there were 2,357 overdose deaths in 2022 in the state and those numbers only seem to be increasing.
Healey definitely has her priorities straight. The biggest enemy that Massachusetts residents currently face right now is water bottles, not the drug crisis, not illegals that hurt the environment, and not the economy.
Because if we ban water bottles, it might just save the world.
