Matthew McConaughey wants you to think he's considering a run for president. The star of such hits as Dazed and Confused and EdTV had flirted with the idea of running for Texas Governor. Then he said he wasn't. Now, he's flirting with running for president. President... of the United States. Which would require a sizably larger commitment than running for governor.

You may think it would be arrogant for an actor to consider a run for president. McConaughey told a tech conference it would be arrogant of him NOT to.

The actor told the collection of progressive tech nerds “Yeah, I’ll consider it in the future, I’d be arrogant not to, absolutely I would consider it. If I got into any form of politics I’d be remiss not to also go in as an artist and a storyteller; help put a narrative together. You’re the CEO of a state and a nation, a lot of compartmentalization and choices to be made. They scare me but I’m not afraid of ’em.”

BUT, it would take "them" to pull him into it. Unclear is who "they" or "them" is. The actor also lamented the divisive partisanship of America. And while he didn't lay out a timeline, he didn't rule out 2024.

Can we stop, please?

Look, I like Matthew McConaughey. I like his movies. He seems like a cool guy. Someone it would be fun to get high with, put on a Whiskey Myers record, and shoot the sh*t on life.

Also, for an A-list actor, he says a lot of things I agree with politically. But that's only good for cheap content. As someone I'd support running to be president, no. Not even close.

Let's also be clear about who is pushing this, other than consultants looking to make a quick buck. It's the left, because they are counting on McConaughey to convince enough conservatives and independents that he is just non-woke and non-leftist enough to vote for him. Then if elected, they would take over. Kinda like how they did in 2020 with the old guy.

Matthew McConaughey is not running for president. The Rock is not running for president. Everyone knock it off.
