Matthew McConaughey is a prime example that while it's fun to have the occasional a-lister who occasionally says things we agree with, we need to slow our roll before declaring them the new voice of conservatism. McConaughey seems like a decent dude. But when it comes to gun rights, he's both wrong and easily confused.

McConaughey was a guest on ABC News "This Week" to discuss his "Green Lights Grant Initiative" that he started to help schools get grants to increase safety and security. It's in response to the tragic Uvalde killings where children were slaughtered in school because authorities wouldn't use their guns to take down the killer for over an hour. They even stopped someone who wanted to use his gun the save the day.

The actor points to the "Bipartisan Safer Communities Act" which was supposed to provide funds for schools to increase security and mental health services. Twelve schools applied. ZERO has been approved for funding from the government. McConaughey saying "what the f*ck" is why he was invited on the show. But of course, talk turned to gun control.

Stop me if you've heard this one before:

"I changed the word from ‘control’ to ‘responsibility.' Control sounds like a mandate and nobody wants a mandate. No one wants to be controlled. But responsibility is still something that we can all go, yeah, ‘I’ll take responsibility’, and a lot of the far-right or the Republicans, they almost feel like responsibility is a value that they have ownership of and it’s a sense of almost pride and honor to be responsible."

M'kay. Two things. One, I don't know who these far-right or Republicans are that McCounghey thinks he's responsibility-splaining to. If there is one thing most of us have managed to stay unified in it's our defense of the Second Amendment.

Two, does my dude really think he invented calling something by a different name to hide the Left's true agenda? That's ALL the Left does. They don't keep it a secret. Not unlike how "genital mutilation" is now "gender-affirming care."

McConaughey didn't even invent doing it for gun control. Leftists have been attempting to make "common sense gun reform" a thing for years. I know it's gun control. You know it's gun control. They think they're fooling someone.

The saddest thing is this isn't the dumbest gun-related thing McConaughey has said. In 2018 while speaking at a March for Our Lives rally, he claimed it wasn't about taking people's guns away. A month later he realized that the movement WAS about taking guns away. But instead of admitting he should have done more research, said he was afraid the movement was being "hijacked" away from it's true cause.
