I like Matthew McConaughey a lot. He's always been alright, alright, alright by me. It would be nice if we would stop talking to him about running for political office. To paraphrase a Canadian philosopher, that's over now, yet people keep coming back for more. At least, McConaughey has gotten better about not taking the bait as shown when he sat down with the shrill harpies from The View.

The actor was there to promote his new children's book Just Because. It is a "soulful and irreverent collection of life lessons that empowers readers, big and small, to celebrate how we are all full of possibility." Eventually, talk turned to McConaughey's flirtations with running for office because he appeals to both sides. Bitter old Joy Behar decided the conversation wasn't partisan enough.

"You think you could get elected in Texas being anti-gun?"

The actor saw through what she was doing and was not amused.

"One thing about me and politics is, to give you a direct statement right there would be playing a game that I’m not interested in playing."

Then with his finger in his face, McConaughey repeated himself to drive the point home.

"To give you a direct statement right there."

The interview ended at this point.

Maybe the actor is realizing that when he tries to "both sides" the gun debate, both sides view him as anti-gun. The difference is when moldy old douchecanoes like Joy Behar say it, she means it as a compliment.

Keep in mind, this is the same guy who thinks he invented calling gun control something else so that gun rights activists will be on board. Leftists have been attempting to make "common sense gun reform" a thing for years. I know it's gun control. You know it's gun control. They think they're fooling someone.

In 2018 while speaking at a March for Our Lives rally, he claimed it wasn't about taking people's guns away. A month later he realized that the movement WAS about taking guns away. But instead of admitting he should have done more research, said he was afraid the movement was being "hijacked" away from its true cause.
