Our story takes place in the Netherlands. Shocking, I know, what with the government declaring a war on farmers there. Like most European leftism, it's important for Americans to pay attention because it's coming here next if we let it. The Dutch city of Haarlem is banning all advertisements for meat. Yes, for silly climate reasons.

The local vegans are all about it. That's how you know it's stupid. (shout out to Not the Bee)

I will say, in Haarlem's defense, they at least had the courage to be honest about it. They didn't sneak the ban in something like an "Inflation Reduction Act." But let me know if the defense of the ban sounds familiar to you at all:

We are not about what people are baking and roasting in their own kitchen; if people wanted to continue eating meat, fine […] We can’t tell people there’s a climate crisis and encourage them to buy products that are part of the cause. [...] It is a signal – if it is picked up nationally, that would only be very nice.

We're in a crisis! That's why the ban doesn't go into effect until 2024. And "we're not about telling people what they can do in your kitchen" sounds a lot like "we're not about telling people what cars they can drive." Both are missing the word "yet."

As for the people who support banning meat advertisements, here is how they are described by their opponents. Stop me if this sounds like a group of people you know:

It is remarkable that the municipality of Haarlem is holding a large poster campaign that you can be yourself in Haarlem and love whoever you want, but if you like meat instead of soft grass, ‘the partronising brigade' will come and tell you that you are completely wrong.

The Haarlem city council, or the people who control Joe Biden? You be the judge.

Back in April 2021, there was an article saying in order for Biden to live out his soggiest climate dreams, it was going to require regulating meat. The "independent" "fact" checkers were quick to circle the wagons because Biden hadn't proposed that using words said out loud. Even though Kamala Harris has.

Side note: Those same "fact" "checkers" will tell you there is no push to get you to eat bugs. So, get that out of your head.

There is already a push to eliminate delicious meat in this country, by leftists who sound no different than Dutch leftists. It's the question of how soon before cities in this country attempt to do the same. And which city in California it will be.
