In the wake of the El Paso, shooting we've been treated to a deluge of cold takes identifying as hot takes (related Enough! A Shooter is Responsible for a Shooting, Stop with the Blame Games! and LA Times Shares OpEd on Mass Shootings and How to Combat Them. It's Actually Decent.). But the hottest of the hot gun control opinions didn't come from our president. Or even any of our 217 presidential candidates. No, the "best" take came from none other than Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Who is calling for MOAR GUN CONTROL... in America. A place where neither he nor his people, have any business to opine.

The cajones on this guy.

“We are very respectful of what other governments decide, but we think that these unfortunate events in the U.S. should prompt reflection, analysis and the decision to control the indiscriminate sale of guns,” the president known as AMLO said in his morning news conference from Valle de Bravo, in the State of Mexico. He added that both Republicans and Democrats have given little attention to the issue.

I want to be careful not to use any language usually found in our heated immigration rhetoric. It wouldn't suck to dial down the temperature a smidge. Just because everyone else is doing and saying stupid things, doesn't mean we need to do or say stupid things. So let's just say a very non-political, non-racial, non-immigrational GO EAT A BAG OF DICKS!

Mexico is not America. America is not Mexico. What Mexico does should be Mexico's problem. What America does should be America's problem. We are two separate countries. I know that seems unclear with Democrats wishing borders were just a societal construct. But no. Reality is reality no matter how much you love tacos.

Mexico has enough of its own problems. Up to and including being a giant sinking hole of actual shit from which too many of its citizens are attempting to flee. President Obrador should handle his own business. Like, I dunno... turning his country rich in natural resources and some pretty spectacular natural beauty into anything other than a sinking hole of actual shit. Just an idea.

Americans have enough of their own elected officials fighting to take our Constitutional rights away. We don't need any outside influence from foreign countries with a litany of problems of their own. Comprendo?
