Mike Rowe Doubles Down on YouTube Censoring Conservative Videos
YouTube has a penchant for flipping the bird to conservative videos, by "demonetizing" or "restricting" them (see YouTube/Facebook Censor Black Blogger for Having Wrong Opinion and WATCH: Video Slams YouTube Over Newest Censorship Plot). Enter Mike Rowe. He spoke out when a video he made for PragerU was restricted. While that issue has been resolved, there are a plethora of videos that are still restricted. Rowe has questions about it:
Thirty-six other videos are currently restricted on Prager University - none of which contain a single frame that would trigger the Motion Picture Association of America to issue anything but a "G" rating. These videos are restricted purely because some people disagree with ideas expressed therein. These are videos with titles like,What Should We Do About Guns?
Immigrants! Don't Vote for What You Fled
Are the Police Racist?
Why Did America Fight the Korean War?
What ISIS Wants
The Most Important Question About Abortion
Why Do People Become Islamic Extremists?
Why America's Military Must Be Strong
Obviously, the subject matter is ripped from the headlines, and the opinions expressed do not reflect the views of everyone. But so what? Dissenting views are welcome in the comments, and from what I've seen, lively debate often ensues. And really - what's the worst part about that? Isn't that what we need now more than ever - a reasoned, intelligent exchange of ideas in the public square?
Excellent question. You'd think so, but yet here we are.
Look, YouTube can do whatever it wants. It's a private business. But to restrict videos, which as Mike Rowe points out, are as graphic as an episode of My Little Ponies? Then clearly they're not worried about graphic content. Ergo it must be ideas they're afraid of.
So I'll spell it out for you. YouTube doesn't like conservative ideas. Mainly because leftists cannot hold up when conservative ideas combat them. Rather than letting ideas duke it out, YouTube is just pulling the ideas they don't like. *Allegedly. Easy speasy.
