Mike Rowe Nails It, Explains Democrats' "Hate the Billionaire" Message is Nothing New
If we could boil the Democrat rallying cry down to just one word, that word would be "greed." But they've really gone all-in on the attack against people with money in 2020 (see ThinkProgress Catches Hypocrite Bernie Sanders Railing Against ‘Millionaires and Billionaires’ and Seth Meyers Advocates for Socialism, Declares Billionaires Immoral). Elizabeth Warren is even selling "billionaire's tears" coffee mugs. Which, while we're sure they cause less cancer than the Daily Wire's "liberal tears" tumblers, still demonstrates the left's core message is riling up their base against a group of people. Which as Mike Rowe points out, isn't new.
It's not a new thing. It's as old as hate. You know, the trick is we just got to figure out who we hate this week.Look, if you're going to put billionaires all in the same category and talk about them broadly... I'm not sure it makes sense to assign vice with money. But of course we do.
This is where the left's economic message gets lost on me. I was never raised to hate and resent people who have more than me. Even the bouts of when I struggled and/or carried a decent amount of personal debt. And unless you have been raised that way, why do you care what billionaires or millionaires or $250k-a-year-aires are making?
Other than you want that money to go to the government so the government can then can give it to you. Greed. Democrats are greedy bastards.
That's the leftist economic message. Vote for us and we'll give you something that isn't yours and you didn't earn. When the economy is doing as great as it is right now... good luck with that!
