A single mom from California said there is no way she can go back to Minneapolis after a series of shootings at her apartment building happened within just 48 hours of moving in as she was still unpacking boxes.
A man died following a shooting in the Uptown Minneapolis neighborhood at 29th Street West and Fremont Avenue South; bullets struck cars, buildings, and the apartment the mother and her young boy were living in.
After the death of the 21-year-old man in the first shooting, the community held a vigil for the victim where another shooting reportedly happened, according to KTSP-TV.
Forty-eight hours later, on Sunday, police confirmed another shooting had taken place that damaged buildings and cars. Two women were also injured by shards of glass as a result of the shooting.
Lecretia, whose last name was withheld, spoke with the outlet saying one of the bullets shattered the glass door on her apartment's porch while her son was bathing.
"We both could have been hit by a situation we had nothing to do with," she said. "Literally nothing to do with [it], innocent bystanders."
"The movers came maybe three or four days ago. Plenty of stuff in boxes on the floor, never got a chance to unpack and this happened," she told the outlet. "I grabbed our suitcases that we had packed from our flights here. I’m like, ‘Let’s go.’"
Her boxes also got soaked from a sprinkler that was hit by a stray bullet.
A community member reportedly set up a fundraising page to assist efforts by Lecretia and her son to relocate to a safer community.
"After the assessment of the apartment I was not able to salvage much. At this point it is a total loss. We lost everything. We just moved here from California 3 weeks ago, no family, no friends, No support [whatsoever]," she said on the page.
I do feel really bad for this lady BUT COME ON. She literally moved to ‘Murderapolis.’ The city became the center of the ‘Defund the Police’ and she really thought as a single mother this was the place to go?
Well, we don’t know her situation so let's focus on the real issue here, which is progressive policies, obviously.
Anyone with half a brain knows what happens when you villainize police and turn criminals into victims. But since democrats don’t have a brain, we need an actual study to prove what is now referred to as the “Minneapolis Effect.”
“The quantitative data and qualitative evidence strongly suggest that a "Minneapolis Effect" has struck—that is, in the wake of anti police protests following George Floyd's death in Minneapolis, police officers are being redeployed from antigun efforts and are retreating from proactive law enforcement tactics. This reduction in law enforcement efforts targeted at firearm crimes has led, perhaps predictably, to an increase in firearm crimes,” the statistical analysis claims.
Who would have thought?
In April of 2021, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the Justice Department was investigating the Minneapolis Police Department.
I wonder what happens when you villainize police and also try to make it impossible for them to do their job. OH YEAH, you get less police.
According to KSTP, between 2020 and 2022, the Minneapolis Police Department had 273 officers leave their jobs. During that same three-year time period, the city hired 117 new officers, which equates to a net loss of 156 officers.
It is baffling to see how far leftist will go to do just about anything to stop proactive policing.
