The patriarchy is having the best year ever in 2023. We live in such a male-dominated world that there are countries where the most attractive women in those countries are born with a penis. Marina Machete beat out a bunch of other Portuguese broads to be crowned Miss Portugal.

The flight attendant boasted on her Instagram account: "Proud to be the first trans woman to compete for the title of Miss Universe Portugal. For years it was not possible for me to participate and today I am proud to be part of this incredible group of finalists."

I know what some of you are thinking. "Brodigan, what a glass ceiling-shattering moment!" Not quite. Transwomen have been competing in the Miss Universe contest since 2012 when then president and owner of the Miss Universe organization Donald Trump changed the rules so "Miss Canada" could compete even though she was a he.

Machete -- yes, a she who transitioned from a he has the last name "Machete" -- doesn't even shatter the glass ceiling for 2023. "Miss" Netherlands Rikkie Valerie Kolle won xi's contest back in July. Though in fairness to Machete, they do a better job at passing the eyeball test.

The fact that the most attractive women in the Netherlands and Portugal both peed standing up at one point in their lives isn't the only Miss Universe controversy this year. The internet is outraged over Brooke Bruk-Jackson winning Miss Zimbabwe. She is an absolute smokeshow -- and a legit she -- but she is also a white woman from Africa.

When Anne Jakrajutatip bought the pageant in January for $20 million, s/he promised "From now on it’s going to be run by women, owned by a trans woman for all women around the world to celebrate the power of feminism!"

To celebrate that power of feminism, men who claim to be women are replacing women who were born that way in beauty pageants just like they do sports. Yay inclusion!
