JUSTICE: WNBA Players Join #BlackLivesMatter. Cops Boycott Their Games...
While the facts are still out over what happen to Alton Sterling, the WNBA's Minneapolis Lynx decided to jump aboard the good train Virtue Signaling. Female basketball players chose to wear #BlackLivesMatter shirts before and after their game. Reminder, #BlackLivesMatter rhetoric contributed to five police officers being killed in Dallas. While protecting a #BlackLivesMatter rally.
Not surprisingly, the Minneapolis police officers working the game were none too pleased. They walked out because of it...
Four off-duty Minneapolis police officers working the Minnesota Lynx game at Target Center on Saturday night walked off the job after the players held a news conference denouncing racial profiling, then wore Black Lives Matter pregame warm-up jerseys.Lt. Bob Kroll, president of the Minneapolis Police Federation, the union that represents rank-and-file officers, praised them for quitting. “I commend them for it,” he said.
Kroll said the four officers also removed themselves from a list of officers working future games. He did not know who the officers were. “Others said they heard about it and they were not going to work Lynx games,” he said.
Asked if other officers will fill in for those who quit, Kroll said, “If [the players] are going to keep their stance, all officers may refuse to work there.”
These are the sorts of "hypocrites" our new favorite person David Brown, the Dallas Police Chief, maybe referring to. These four broads were enjoying the protection of the police at their event. Then they decided to protest police because of two cases making the viral news rounds. Two cases of which the details and facts are still incoming. So, as they've every right to do, the police officers decided to heck with it. If these WNBA players didn't like police so much, may as well leave. Why stay at an event where one isn't welcomed?
Also, rather a waste of police resources this game. How many people even attend a WNBA game? Five? It's likely the police walkout was the most exciting moment. Other than the final buzzer.
We saw a similar police boycott with the Queen herself, Beyonce, when police, upset with her Black Panther inspired performance at the Super Bowl, decided to flip her the figurative bird. You hate police so much? Fine. We just won't protect you.
Actions meet consequences. You have every right in the world to wear whatever shirt you want. But the officers have every right to protest it, then make a judgement call for their own gosh darn selves. Police officers are not these WNBA players' personal protection dogs. They're human beings with rights. The right to life included.
Good for these four officers. I can't imagine the week police are having. Yet again the media and opportunistic political left are looking to demonize them before any facts are in. AGAIN.
Because you know what they say about facts...
