MSNBC: Let's Ban Men's Sports... To Help Women?
If we had a nickel for every time a MSNBC host said something stupid, we'd bet them all on the stupidest thing coming from Melissa Harris-Perry. We would then become your billionaire, corporate overlords. This time she wants to man men's sports because it takes too much attention away from womyn's sports.

During the break I was trying to think up a solution to the problem of building audience (for women athletes), so my solution is in 2016 we go completely dark on all media coverage of men's sports, just for one year. We have the only televised sports, the only print sports, it's only women's sports, and we'll just see whether or not women could get a fan base if in fact they were the people who were constantly on our televisions and in our newspapers.
Okay. There are a few problems here.
1. One of the most popular athlete's today - man or woman - is UFC Champion Ronda Rousey. Not only is she the most popular, but she's on her way to making the most money in the sport, period. A big reason for this is that she has a personality, and combat sports are somewhat "bell-curve" based, in that you tend to be competing against someone at your same weight, skill level, and usually, gender. Though that isn't always the case, as we've covered with the transgender, Fallon Fox fiasco before. So the physical advantages bestowed upon men, aren't as readily apparent in combat. Plus, Ronda Rousey is just really, really good.
2. She's talking about soccer. People don't watch men's soccer either. Particularly straight men. It's soccer. This is America.
3. There's no lack of access to women's sports. Be it from a consumer perspective or a media perspective. People just find women's sports boring, even women! The reason is quite simple and yes, by definition, sexist. People watch professional sports to marvel at the most elite the human race has to offer. It's for that same reason that the Detroit Red-Wings can sell millions of dollars in march, while the Charlestown Chiefs are relegated to "old time hockey" in the Maritimes. Now here comes the cold water...
The best at nearly every athletic endeavour, ever... is a man. When it comes to physical endeavors, men are stronger, faster, can jump higher, have quicker reaction time, you name it, they enjoy a distinct physical advantage. The general consumer prefers to watch that.
This is yet another example of leftism demanding that we do away with equal opportunity in order to force equal outcomes. As a matter of fact, the abolishment of equal opportunity is required for this tenet of leftism to work. It's why the ideology is morally reprehensible. In this case, the only way to ensure that women's sports gets the same kind of viewers as men, is to do away with the opportunity of televising men's sports.
Because... feminism?
