Over seventy-seven million Americans voted for Donald Trump, and it’s unclear why any of them should be funding an outlet that despises them. This is why MTG said what needed to be said.

“Public” media should be as objective as possible, and because networks like NPR are so partisan, it would be logically equivalent to funding MSNBC.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., scolded NPR CEO Katherine Maher over her past statements during Wednesday’s fiery DOGE subcommittee hearing on alleged biased content on public media.

Greene noted Maher has called President Donald Trump a "deranged, racist sociopath," has said America is "addicted to White supremacy" – which Greene called "appalling" – and found the terms "boy and girl" to be "erasing language" for non-binary people.

It truly is "appalling" that this woman despises America so much but still believes her outlet should be funded by the very country she hates. You cannot make that level of entitlement up.

The federal funding that your outlet receives comes from all American taxpayer dollars. Not just from your viewers who support such statements as these, let me inform you that your federal funding is also paid for by the other half of the country. The 77 million Americans who voted for President Trump. Someone you called a deranged, racist sociopath," Greene said.

Maher was criticized by conservatives in 2024 when she took over NPR and her old social media posts expressing progressive views were unearthed. But Greene said that many find Maher’s "pro-censorship and anti-free speech views more concerning" than her politics.

"The only speech you like seems to be speech that you agree with," Greene said.

If Maher does not believe in the freedom of speech for all Americans, then there is no reason why NPR should be receiving any federal funding.

"In 2021, you called the First Amendment the No. 1 challenge in American journalism because it makes it hard to crack down on bad information. You said in a Ted Talk that our reverence for the truth might be a distraction. You've also expressed support for deplatforming individuals you view as fascist," Greene continued. "Who do you think should be charged with cracking down on so-called bad information? Is it NPR? Is it the government? Is it you?"

The fact that American “journalists” are actively campaigning against the very reason that makes their profession relevant is a scandal in itself. However, these are not really journalists so much as they are working as the PR wing for the Democratic party.

Not only does NPR seem to despise half the country, but they are funded by the very people they campaign against and that is infuriating.

Do you want your tax dollars funding things like this? Because I would bet you don't.

It really is "horrifying" that the government funds outlets like PBS and NPR, and the fact that people defend this is a scandal in itself.
