"Karen" Is Suing Her Neighbor Over The Delicious Smells Of His BBQ Restaurant That She CHOSE To Move In Next To

A very cute couple opened up a butcher shop/restaurant called “Roy's Meat Service.” At some point, someone named “Karen” moved in. Her real name is Natalie but Karen fits with this story. So just go with it.
Now, Karen did not realize when you move right next to a BBQ joint, you will not only end up with great meat all the time, but you will also smell the yummy food. She did not realize what you move next to matters. She also did not know that if you don’t like something, you should not move there.
“An East Nashville butcher caught in a legal dispute with his neighbor says she is “trying every way she can" to shut down his store.
The woman who lives beside Roy Meat Service on 19th Street sued owner Jeff Roy in January, saying that a shed and concrete slab behind the store extend onto her property by 1.7 feet. The lawsuit states that has led to “fumes of burning wood that permeate Plaintiff’s property” whenever someone cooks meat.
Word of the lawsuit spread on a Nashville meme page this week. But Roy said the property line dispute is just the most recent complaint neighbor Natalie Castillo has made about the market.”
Why would anyone want to ruin the lives of this sweet-looking couple who will cook you ribs?
Only a monster would do that.
“Roy purchased Roy Meat Service from a friend of his father’s in 2015 and left another job in the wholesale meat industry. The only business for at least a few blocks either direction, Roy Meat Service is part convenience store, part butcher shop, part restaurant, part community gathering spot. He built the business into an East Nashville favorite by word of mouth, particularly after helping feed neighbors for free when tornadoes destroyed parts of Nashville in 2020, he said.”
His grandfather was an iceman and his uncle was a milkman. He just “wanted to carry on the family legacy of serving this community,” he said, according to the outlet.
Karen has made nearly 50 complaints since 2021. When she first moved in she asked to be Roy’s business partner. But Roy picked up on the fact that this lady has a couple of screws loose. Subsequently, Roy has spent at least $20,000 because of Karen's complaints. But now Karen has something else up her sleeve.
“Castillo states in the lawsuit that the smoke from the store has had negative effects on her health and has led her to intensify her asthma regimen. The lawsuit also claims the store, which is in a residential zone, is violating Metro zoning rules.
The lawsuit has not gone to trial and remains in the discovery phase. Castillo is also suing Emma Hollis, who owns the store property that Roy rents," according to the outlet.
You would think that a resident living in the birthplace of hot chicken and dry-rubbed ribs would be used to the smell of BBQ by now. But I guess she never noticed that. Which is why she assumed it was a good idea to move in right next door to a meat market.
Based on my social media research, it seems like no one is standing behind this lady and Roy has more than enough support he needs.
The only logical complaint I can see made from living next door is that you are getting too fat from all that yummy food. Other than that, you are a Karen.
I live in California. The whole state smells like weed. I wish I could sue all the potheads for making everything smell like a dead skunk. But some things you just have to live with. And as far as smells go, give me a break! BBQ is not a smell you complain about. Just because you don't like something does not mean you get to ruin someone's right to make a living.
I hope she ends up moving next to an Indian restaurant next. If she thinks BBQ is bad, wait till she realizes what curry can do.
