Jerry Harris, star of Netflix'sCheer, has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for child pornography. In 2020, Harris hosted a campaign event with then-presidential candidate Joe Biden.

WIVB reports Harris in February pled guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. In one instance, he kept asking for explicit pictures from someone he knew was a minor via the social media app Snapchat. In the second, he traveled from Texas to Florida to have sex with a fifteen-year-old.

Weeks before the initial FBI investigation started, Jerry Harris was chosen to host a campaign event with Joe Biden. The two discussed turning out the youth vote. Biden did not appear in public with Harris. The event took place when critics say Biden's campaign was hiding him in the basement. Though, as the video shows, Biden was clearly sitting in the main floor of the home. Possibly a living room.

Harris' defense said the sexual misconduct "took place in the context of a competitive Cheer Community where inappropriately sexualizing and sexually abusing children was far too common and too often overlooked," and that Harris "was himself exploited, manipulated, and sexually abused as a child within the Cheer Community in a way that perversely made him believe that this sexual conduct was somehow normal when it was not.”

Netflix'sCheer was a "reality" TV series about how hard-driving head cheer coach Monica Aldama "demanded perfection from her team of competitive college athletes" in the small town of Corsicana, Texas. Jerry is said to have been known for "his upbeat attitude" during the show.

Harris is also facing eight years of supervised release after his sentence. He will be forced to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
