Early contender for dumbest Christmas story of the year? In New Jersey they decided to call a Christmas Tree...  a *drumroll* Christmas tree. This so outraged a sitting councilwomanm, she resigned over it.

Yes really.

Citing of course "separation of church and state," five words that low information liberals don't know are no where in the constitution...

Storey, who was raised Catholic but describes herself as a non-believer, said she made the decision because she did not want to be a part of a city council that excluded other religions.

“I cannot in good conscience continue to be part of a council that is exclusionary or to work with a mayor who is such,” Storey said in her resignation letter.

She also sited the separation of church and state plus an increasingly diverse community.

When first reading this, I thought "well, it looks like that problem took care of itself." Then I read, unfortunately, that she opted to take back her resignation, and will "chair a diversity" committee instead.

Look, in the grand scheme of political correctness (read all about it here), this should merely be an eye roller. I mean...

"It's a holiday tree!"

"Really? Which holiday?"

"Um...."

The problem is that to the SJW left, they take this kind of thing seriously. Like, really seriously. Of course they don't hate all religious celebrations, just those of Christians. How much do you want to bet that this broad wouldn't have resigned over a Kwanza display? Oh Leftists love to co-opt religions from the deepest, darkest cesspools of the world. Places like India, China and Saudi Arabia where people have lived under oppression and squalor for millennia, all so some wannabe-yogi from New Jersey can slap their religious symbol on a bumper sticker.

This is a big irony of the "multi-cultural" left. Just like this woman now heading up a "diversity committee," they want to welcome and praise cultures from all lands far and wide... except the ones that have shaped the United States. Listen, you may hate Christmas, we get it. But how about just chalking up the Christmas tree and our traditions to "our culture." Just think of it as a "Christmas Culture" safe space and move on down the trail.

The only sad thing is that they let her take it back. If you're going to be PC, have the courage of your convictions to be PC! Quit your jobs and go whine about it on Tumblr just like everybody else.
