This Blue State Banned Plastic Bags To Save The Earth, Yet Consumption Has Tripled
New Jersey decided to ban plastic bags to prevent the sun from blowing up. But it remains unclear as to why the sun has not blown up because plastic use has since tripled.
Who would have guessed that banning something does not actually prevent people from obtaining that thing?
According to The Washington Examiner:
“New Jersey’s single-use plastic bag ban has proved unsuccessful in curbing plastic consumption, with a new study showing that plastic use has tripled.
Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) signed a bill that set the bag ban into motion in May 2022 in an effort to address plastic pollution, and he said it ‘will help mitigate climate change.’ The ban, which was the strictest of its kind at the time, restricted retail and grocery stores from providing customers with single-use plastic bags and prohibited grocery stores larger than 2,500 square feet from giving customers single-use paper bags.
‘Plastic bags are one of the most problematic forms of garbage, leading to millions of discarded bags that stream annually into our landfills, rivers, and oceans,’ Murphy said in a press statement after approving the legislation.
The law also banned polystyrene foam food takeout containers and single-use plastic straws unless a customer requests one.”
The crazy thing about “environmentalists” is that their “solutions” always end up being so much worse for the planet. So they want to ban plastic bags and then what? Introduce more paper bags by cutting down more trees. All of this is not that complicated but progressives love to create something from nothing and then subsequently, everyone else is worse off.
The left is so incredibly naive and stupid that it is painful.
It is also unlikely that progressives will make the connection that “banning” something won’t do much to actually “ban” it. Because progressives don’t like facts to get in the way of their agenda.
Even if banning plastic bags was a good idea, (it's not but just pretend), that would still do nothing because everything is still covered in plastic. Milk, water, chips, anything frozen, packaged produce, anything and everything is in plastic. So this does nothing but cause inconvenience for people as a way for state officials to virtue signal and pretend they are saving humanity. It's quite clear that when the government comes to save the day, everyone is worse off for it.
I am no "expert" in New Jersey state law, but I really don't think it's the government's job to stop the sun from blowing up. And you have to be extremely narcissistic and arrogant to think you can do anything that would make a fraction of a difference in that regard.
