There's nothing wrong with being a boy or a girl. Nor is there anything wrong with the general assumptions people make about being a boy or a girl. Those general assumptions are made because generally, boys gravitate toward certain pursuits, habits and tendencies, and girls gravitate toward certain pursuits, habits and tendencies. Yet the same side which proclaims "diversity is our strength" shies away from the inherent differences between males and females much like a vampire recoils from the sun. Now we have idiot Millennials, raised by baby boomers who probably didn't make them do chores around the house, raising children without gender. Behold:

Biological sex isn't a societal construct. It's real. It's real when you're in the emergency room and the doctors need to know what you are. That's because there are biological differences between male and female bodies that extend further than the phallic or vaginal equipment in the pants.

Biological differences also mean there are personality and mental differences between men and women. To tell a child he's neither a he or a her, to leave that choice over what the boy or girl wants to be, will just set that child up for grave confusion, and possibly the belief that all he needs to be is to believe. Making "creative genderless parenting" not just a scam for a child's present, but a disaster for the future.

Imagine growing up thinking that you can dictate reality by what you decide reality is. What a mind fuck, and a real kick in the crotch when life shows you how little it cares about your opinions of it.
