New York Senate Proposes Political Correctness Screening Before Handgun Purchases
We told you about an incoming bill in the New York state legislature, the one requiring the fuzz to audit your social media purchases for potential craziness before letting you pack heat. Well, they've officially released the bill and its intrusiveness is on a whole new level.
The authorities won't just be on the lookout for violent warning signs. They're going to disqualify people for being politically incorrect. I kid you not:
S9191 “requires a person applying for a license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver or a renewal of such license to consent to having his or her social media accounts and search engine history reviewed and investigated for certain posts and/or searches over a period of 1-3 years prior to the approval of such application or renewal,” the draft bill states. If the bill passes, investigators would be able to look for posts or searches that contain threats to the health or safety of others; intentions to carry out an act of terrorism; or commonly known profane slurs or biased language describing the race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation of a person.
Yeah, you read that right. All you potential Empire State pistol purchasers might soon regret jokingly calling your pal Fitzy a gimpy, translucent Irish fairy on the Facebooks.
This political correctness bit sounds pretty broad. As in nobody in New York is going to be getting their mitts on a hand-cannon in the near future. Looking for signs of a buyer being two more missed pill-takings from pulling an elementary school massacre is somewhat understandable. Disqualifying a guy on the grounds of having a racy sense of humor, not so much.
Also, think about the rate at which political correctness is accelerating. What might have been a-okay to say three years ago could be a big no-no now. After all, according to lefties, it's (insert current year here).
This goes to show how the left is not only trying to police your guns, they're trying to police your thoughts. There's no end to their totalitarian dickery. Though, keep in mind, this is all just "common sense."
Speaking of that:
