State officials warned New York state schools that attempts to block or even make it difficult for illegal immigrant children trying to register for public school could open them up to lawsuits.

The legal threat comes from New York Attorney General Letitia James and State Education Commissioner Betty Rosa after they claim they found "discriminatory" enrollment policies that make it difficult or impossible for migrant kids to enroll in school.

“Schools should immediately welcome students into their classrooms, even if the student requires additional time to establish residency,” James and Rosa wrote in a Monday letter to public school districts.

According to the letter, some school districts required students or their parents to provide voter registration cards.

Other policies that officials condemned include requiring that all proofs of residency be less than 30 days old and to resubmit proofs of residency on a regular basis for students who lack a formal lease, according to the letter.

This letter was sent just days after reports that state officials still do not have a plan in place to handle nearly 20,000 migrant children.

Although the letter stops short of naming which districts they are talking about, it is very clear that New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been having a frustrating year.

Obviously, no state is equipped to handle that much of an influx of students, especially ones that probably don't speak English. But New Yorkers have no one to blame but themselves with their “no human is illegal” nonsense.

It really is important to note that illegal immigration hurts minorities the most. Black Americans lose more jobs to illegal immigrants than other racial or ethnic groups.

It is also important to note that more illegal immigration means more crime.

“Customs and Border Protection encountered over 275,000 illegal aliens crossing our borders nationwide in April alone, setting a distressing precedent for increased illegal entries under the Biden administration. While the majority of illegal aliens seek a better life, the undeniable link between increasing illegal immigration and crime poses a significant threat to American communities,” The Heritage Foundation reported in June.

While noncitizens comprised only 7% of the population in 2018, they made 64% of federal arrests.

Sanctuary cities like New York shield criminal illegal immigrants and perpetuate violent crime. And the fact that these same jurisdictions are soft on crime, only adds fuel to the fire.
