NFL Legend Deion Sanders Shocks Media with Reasoned Gun Comments...
Usually after a mass shooting like San Bernardino, celebrities can't wait to say something stupid about guns. It's a contest for who can sound the dumbest while looking the prettiest. Or something. So if you're a journalist it only makes sense to ask celebrities about guns when they are walking the red carpet. Either way, it's a good soundbite for everyone. Either a celebrity will be hailed as a tight-skinned hero who just understands that guns are, like, totally evil, or the same video will be shared and LOLed at for the insanely stupid comments.
One of these celebrities asked about the guns was NFL Legend Deion Sanders.
I don't think that the Associated Press was expecting his answer though. Mainly because it was majored and well reasoned, and he didn't push a political agenda in it. Go figure.
Guns aren’t “picking up themselves and pulling triggers on [their] own,” Sanders responded. “I think people are doing that. It says more about people than it says about guns.”“I’m not an advocate of ignorance or violence whatsoever,” he continued, “but we really need to look at people.”
Sanders added that inner-city gun violence occurs “on a daily basis” and that solving that problem is as important as figuring out how to stop gun violence outside the inner city.
Sanders for the touchdown. Hey, that's my only football reference for the entire piece. Get over it. He's right, though. Guns are inanimate objects which cannot act on their own. Also, the San Bernardino shootings were terrorist attacks. I say this not a racist, Islamaphobe but as someone who reads the news. Yeah, the FBI is investigating San Bernardino as a terrorist attack. Obama was unavailable for comment, he was too busy getting the sand out of his eyes and his wherever.
It's worth pointing out not all celebrities are dolts, just most. Maybe it's their daily beauty routines of facial waxes and chemical peals. Perhaps those chemicals go a few cells too deep in the forehead... But hey, some celebrities like Deion Sanders get it. As does Mike Rowe. Also Tim Allen gets it. Samuel L. Jackson gets it.
Even Hilary Duff gets it. Yes, THAT Hilary Duff. Looks like we can add Deion Sanders to the list as well.
