Of Course. NFL Players Demand League-Wide 'Social Justice Month'
I'm not even getting in to the weekend brou-ha-ha between the President and both the NFL and the NBA, other than I agree with Donald Trump.
Just saying, maybe private citizen Trump can ask President Trump to focus more on health care, building a wall, and tax reform.
However, that doesn't mean the rest of us need to keep quiet as the NFL turns into the SJL (Social Justice League). How badly? Some players think that kneeling during the National Anthem isn't enough (see DUH! Poll Shows NFL Viewership Declined Because of Anthem Protests and MORON ALERT: ESPN Host Says Standing for Anthem is “Injecting Politics” into Sports…). They want a whole Social Justice Month dedicated to activism. Because really, what the NFL has been lacking this year has been politics interjected into the games.
Current and former NFL players campaigning for racial equality and criminal justice reform wrote a lengthy memo to league commissioner Roger Goodell officially seeking overt league support in their effort, including an endorsement for an activism awareness month, Yahoo Sports has learned. The 10-page memo, obtained by Yahoo Sports, was sent to Goodell and executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent in August, requesting wide-ranging involvement in their movement from the NFL. The memo seeks an investment of time and education, political involvement, finances and other commitments from the league. It also sought to have the NFL endorse the month of November as an activism awareness month, similar to the periods of league calendar dedicated to breast cancer awareness and military recognition.
Riiiiiight. Because left-wing "social justice" ideals are on the same level as combating cancer and supporting our military.
Isn't this whole thing hilarious? These athletes play in the most elite of leagues. Making millions of dollars. In front of millions of fans. Yet, they feel held down by the man? Such a tragedy. I'm sure they're crying themselves to sleep every night in their eight-figure mansions next to their supermodel wives. On second thought, we need social justice month now more than ever.
Since forever, the left's been pushing to inject politics into every nook and cranny of our lives. Even people who generally agree with the left are getting tired of it. If awareness is what these guys are going for, they're doing it all wrong. When people are trying to unwind on Sunday after a week of work, politics is the last thing they want to hear. You athletes are only hurting your cause with this "Social Justice Month" idea. Your careers too.
The real question is what's next? Is December going to be "Check Your White Privilege" Month?
