Nikki Haley Addresses the United Nations on Cuban Embargo, American Sovereignty
You've probably noticed our relationship with the UN has changed quite a bit since 2016. Obama preferred to roll belly up to globalists. President Trump, not so much. Hence we're fans of Ambassador Nikki Haley (see Nikki Haley Lowers the Boom: 'UN's Days of Israel Bashing are Over...'). She takes no crap from the United Ninnies.
A perfect example of this? Every year the UN tries to bully America into playing nice with Cuba. Not breaking with tradition, the General Assembly recently attempted a nonsense vote to force the U.S. to end an embargo on Cuba. Yeah, Haley hulk smashed that idea. 'Twas glorious.
The video is conveniently timestamped to where she begins to talk about the embargo. Specifically how the UN has zero authority over it. And while the whole statement was beautifully badass, here's a few of the major highlights.
Ambassador Nikki Haley blasted the United Nations Wednesday in a defiant speech to the 193-member General Assembly before it adopted a resolution calling for an end to the U.S. economic embargo on Cuba."Let's be honest about what we really see going on here," Haley said. "This assembly does not have the power to end the U.S. embargo. It is based in U.S. law, which only the United States Congress can change.
"As long as the Cuban people continue to be deprived of their human rights and fundamental freedoms ... the United States does not fear isolation in this chamber, or anywhere else. Our principles are not up for a vote."
In other words, they can't just meddle with our affairs. And we're not sorry about it. This is a stark contrast to last year, when Obama's ambassador chose to abstain from the embargo vote. In trademark Obama wimpish fashion (see Obama to UN: America Should 'Give Up Freedom.' Yes, Really...). But fret not, Nikki provided a simple explanation even UN collectivists could understand:
"To those who are confused as to where the United States stands, let me be clear: as is their right under our Constitution, the American people have spoken," Haley said. "They have chosen a new president, and he has chosen a new ambassador to the United Nations."
Shorter Haley: Dearest UN, America isn't your bitch. You're ours...
America is so hot right now.
