Friday was just made great again. A bill in North Carolina, if passed, would give teachers who undergo police training a 5% raise. In addition to all the respect granted to them just by arming up in order to take care of the kids should some loner who didn't get enough hugs from daddy, take it upon himself to mow down the students.

Filed on Wednesday, the School Security Act of 2019 would give a 5% salary boost to teachers who undergo basic police training. These "teacher resource officers" could carry guns in an open or concealed manner, and they would have the same arrest powers as police officers, the bill says.

Similar bills have been attempted before, but died in committee. This one offers a pay raise, since hiring a resource officer for every school is already a costly affair. Plus, the more teachers who are locked and loaded, the greater chance at least one of them could take down a trigger-happy mama's boy.

Republican State Sen. Warren Daniel, one of the bill's sponsors, told CNN the proposal "is a way to put a lot of security on the ground in our schools." He added, "It's extremely costly to put a school resource officer in every school ... and there's a great shortage of the number of applicants to law enforcement agencies. This bill is an attempt to bridge that gap."

Makes sense. It also makes sense CNN would try to say most teachers are against arming other teachers. To which I say then don't be one of the teachers with a gun. Isn't that the leftist mantra? If you don't want an abortion, don't have an abortion? I know, I know, school shootings aren't the same as abortions. The kids killed in school shootings weren't slated to die courtesy of their mothers' choice.
