It looks like Howard Stern had his wishes granted by whatever heathen COVID god he’s been praying to for the past two years. Novak Djokovic, the unvaxxed tennis player seeking to play in the Australian Open, has lost his appeal to the Federal Court after challenging Immigration Minister Alex Hawke’s cancelation of his visa.

On Friday, Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke revoked Djokovic's visa on public interest grounds, claiming his presence could "excite anti-vaccination sentiment."

After deliberating for only two hours, the New York Post reports, the court upheld the minister’s decision. Chief Justice James Allsop stated that “the ruling came down to whether the minister’s decision was ‘irrational or legally unreasonable.’”

Now, I’m no legal scholar, but I like to believe I am a rational human being. Australia admits to having some of the highest vaccination rates in the world. If the vax works, there should be no issue with Djokovic playing some tennis there. But Australia, for all its lockdowns and restrictions and vax passports and vaccination rates has been experiencing a huge increase in infections, and so they are scared.

Fear doesn’t sound like a rational basis for any decision, but that’s just me.

As for legally unreasonable, the targeted attacks on freedom against the unvaccinated by the Australian government seem legally dubious at best. But then, Australia doesn’t have the kind of freedoms we Americans take for granted. Perhaps it’s entirely legal for the Australian government to treat their citizens like cattle. I’ve never been there, and after COVID, I don’t think I ever want to go there.

Unvaxxed athletes have been the target of some hate here in America. Most notably, Aaron Rodgers was briefly a target of the left when he let the cat out of the bag and admitted to not receiving his vax.

As the pandemic begins to wane, there’s no telling what other ridiculous stretches and twists of law the governments of the world will use to keep hold of the powers they’ve gained over the past couple years.
