Taxpayer Dollars: Obama Becoming Most Expensive Ex-President EVER
He's back! The commander of our not so favorite assministration (see what I did there?) has popped into the news once more. This time he's asking for more taxpayer cash to fund his post-presidency adventures. The grand sum will topple anything any other former president has asked for or received, making Obama our most costly retiree. And you just thought he sucked as a president. Turns out, he sucks when he's not president. Feel free to add that to his "legacy" (see WATCH: Obama Blames Failed Legacy on... Southern Whites?).
Here be the deets:
Former President Barack Obama is about to become the most expensive ex-president, costing taxpayers $1,153,000 next year, according to a new Congressional Research Service memo looking at the official allowances for the five living former chief executives. His $1,153,000 budget request for 2018 is more than $100,000 higher than George W. Bush's request for next year and nearly $200,000 more than Bill Clinton's expected budget. George H.W. Bush is slated to get $942,000, while Jimmy Carter will get less than half that, at just $456,000.
Oh noes! Jimmy Carter only gets a measly $456,000.
Pay no mind to the verbiage in the quote here: half a million dollars is certainly not pennies. Especially for a guy who sucked at his job. Speaking of which, you're probably wondering what Obama needs over a million dollars for. Wonder no more.
By far the biggest cost for ex-presidents is renting office space. Mr. Obama's office - 8,198 square feet in D.C. - will cost taxpayers $536,000 next year, the most of any ex-president. Mr. Obama's pension payment is also the highest, at $236,000.Presidents' cost figures don't include protection, which the U.S. Secret Service provides for former presidents and their spouses for life. Those costs aren't public, but reportedly run into tens of millions of dollars.
There's a few obvious issues with this. Mainly, the dude isn't running the country any more. There's no need for him to have an office the size of a mansion. Where Mrs. Obama totes isn't prepping to campaign. If we're trying to cut down on federal spending, might I suggest we do away with the excessive benefits. For somebody so infatuated with socialism, you'd think Obama might want this million dollars to go elsewhere -- where it's more needed. Not to pimp out his professional pad for post-presidential busy work. You know, fairness and whatnot. Remember all his lip flapping about needing to help the poor and disenfranchised? So much for that.
These are Obama's true colors. He's green with lust for taxpayer money. Looks like our dollars aren't even safe from him when he's out of the White House.
The hypocrisy is astounding. While we're on the subject, here's a flashback for you:
