Obama Scraps "Oath of Allegiance" For Certain Immigrants. Guess Why...
I can't even...
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on Tuesday said it will no longer require incoming U.S. citizens to pledge that they will "bear arms on behalf of the United States" or "perform noncombatant service" in the Armed Forces as part of the naturalization process. Those lines are in the Oath of Allegiance that people recite as they become U.S. citizens. But USCIS said people "may" be able to exclude those phrases for reasons related to religion or if they have a conscientious objection.
USCIS said people with certain religious training or with a "deeply held moral or ethical code" may not have to say the phrases as they are naturalized.
Let's skip over the glaring hypocrisy in that there are religious exceptions for everything except Christians who don't want to take part in a gay wedding. Here's the macro: what kind of message do you think this sends? Kind of like when leftists went out of their way to remove "safe, legal, and rare" and "under God" from their platform.
This is proactive on President Obama's part. This is important enough that he's making a point to remove "bear arms on behalf of the United States" from the Oath of Allegiance. At the top of his "to do" list is ensuring that immigrants can flock here without having to defend the country, ever.
But it's worse than that. This isn't even about being a conscientious objector to violence... because this administration has made it clear that citizens will also not be required to "perform noncombatant service."
Seriously? You can't even toss on an apron and be a sous chef for the military? You want the privilege to take part in the greatest country in the world, but if the feces hits the fan, you won't even file some paperwork for the National Guard?
Why are we acting like these people have any place in this country? Yes, give us your poor, your tired, your hungry... so long as they want to contribute to the cultural fabric and become an American. Immigrants once created a great nation of makers, now many want to come in as professional takers.
These immigrants who object to the Oath of Allegiance are not coming to the United States to take part, they're coming to take over.
President Obama's obliging them.
